Multimodal Bonded Warehouse

The Multimodal Bonded Warehouse is a space located within the customs district of the Port of Altamira, with 4,500 m² of indoor storage and 45,000 m² of yard. It is used for handling, storage, warehousing, custody, loading and unloading of all types of foreign trade goods.

More than two decades of experience endorse the quality of its services and operational maneuvers: Deconsolidation, consolidation, packaging, indoor and outdoor storage, change of transport mode from container to truck or vice versa, reception of empty containers, logistics of inter-recinct operations, among others. As well as its physical, ocular, orexpress pre-checks and its co-packing logistics processes such as: packing, wrapping, labeling, labeling, marking, assembly, and transfer of goods with conveyor belts.

Multimodal is the most important terminal in the Port of Altamira for handling agricultural products and is authorized by SENASICA [[National Service for Health, Safety, and Agro-food Quality Assurance], to operate as an International Plant Health Inspection Point (IPHIP) (PIIMSV) with 22 authorized curtains, making it one of the most important Inspection Points in the northeastern part of the country. They are also authorized as an Animal Health Verification and Inspection Point for Imports (AHVIPI). As a result, SADER SENASICA personnel work permanently in their own offices within its facilities. The logistic evolution of the cold chain

Multimodal reduces logistics costs using the Panama Canal

At Multimodal, using Logistics Intelligence, we concluded that a lot of cargo going to Asia and produced in places near the port of Altamira, such as San Luis Potosi or Monterrey, should leave through this port and not through the Pacific. We reached this conclusion by analyzing the costs of land transportation and the costs of maritime transportation starting from our Port of Altamira and using the Panama Canal. In comparison, we performed the same exercise using Manzanillo, from where the goods travel many more kilometers. The total savings in this exercise is 700 USD per container, in addition to avoiding risks by reducing the overland route. And if we add to this the fact that Multimodal can match the export cargo with the import cargo of one of our many customers, it is even more economical!

MULTIMODAL: Logistics and the Panama Canal

In Multimodal we are logistics operators that advise our customers to reduce costs, avoid delays and reduce storage. For this reason, we have an area of Logistics Intelligence where a team of people study the different modes of transport, logistics flows, shipping lines routes, the cost of ports and the cost of land transport, among other factors that influence to offer the best logistics solution, developed to suit the needs of each of our customers.

We start from the assumption that all cargo going to China, Japan, or South Korea, must leave through a Pacific port, Manzanillo, or Lazaro Cardenas. At Multimodal, using Logistics Intelligence, we concluded that in many cases cargo going to Asia and produced near the port of Altamira, such as San Luis Potosi or Monterrey, must leave through this port and not through a Pacific port. We reached this conclusion by analyzing the costs of land transportation and the costs of maritime transportation leaving through Altamira, using the Panama Canal, and leaving through Manzanillo, traveling many more kilometers by road. Multimodal celebrates its 24th anniversary with permanent renovation strategy.

In the framework of its 24th anniversary, Multimodal, aware of the importance of preserving the cold chain of perishable goods in transit or those requiring controlled temperature conditions, is carrying out an ambitious project in its refrigerated and frozen warehouses in which, gradually, electrical or power outlets for refrigerated containers —reefers— will be added, which, in turn, will allow them to have an increasing capacity for the reception of these.

In addition to the 13 existing reefers connectors, 50 will be added in the first stage of the plan. In addition, they have the necessary infrastructure to supply electricity to units containing this type of cargo, such as fruit, vegetables, pharmaceuticals, dairy and meat products, among others. The purpose is to ensure that these products, which require special care, reach their destinations in optimum conditions.

In terms of transportation and mobility, Multimodal Logistics de Altamira has incorporated a new and modern fleet of 30 Freightliner 2022 tractor-trailerss Freightliner 2022; to its foreign transportation division, acquired as part of its permanent renovation strategy, whose focus is the continuous improvement of the service provided to its customers, thus guaranteeing the punctuality and safety of their loads.
